About TTouch

This dog would not let his feet be handled before TTouch.
His owner had to wear a hard hat and muzzle the dog
when trying to trim his nails.

What is TTouch?
TTouch in its entirety is a combination of 4 things:

  • Bodywork - gentle circular movements done with fingers & hands over the body.
  • Wraps (and other tools) - to create physical awareness.
  • Ground work - simple exercises to improve balance & physical awareness.  Builds confidence and opens neural pathways for learning.
  • Philosophy

How can it help my dog?
Fearful, stressed, nervous, frightened, reactive dogs learn to be more confident, relaxed and emotionally well balanced.  Behavior issues such as biting, chewing, barking, leash pulling and fears can be alleviated, improving the emotional health of the pet.

Physical issues from injury, surgery, arthritis and age can be lessened with the application of TTouch, stimulating neural connections and cellular activity.  It's also very relaxing and less invasive than massage.

TTouch is in no way a substitute for medical care.  TTouch complements medical care.  Your practitioner will want to know if your dog has been cleared physically by a vet of anything that may  contribute to his/her behavior.

Groundwork offers physical improvement, agility, balance and range of motion while also increasing neural connections thus increasing learning capacity.

What can I expect from a TTouch session?
You'll be asked to complete a profile of your animals' history as well as the changes you would like to see in him/her.   This history allows for a customized TTouch approach to be developed specifically for you and your pet.

At your first session you'll be asked to bring the equipment you currently use with your pet (collar, leash, harness, etc.) so that the TTouch practitioner can meet you "where you're at".  Success is the goal.  There are times when you may be asked if you're open to explore different equipment to better achieve success in working with your pet.

You will learn specific TTouches and Groundwork to meet your pets needs and how to do them at home.

A clients' first session typically lasts 90 minutes which will include learning how to do TTouch and Groundwork exercises that can be continued at home.

Follow-up sessions are 60 minute sessions where the human/animal team is re-evaluated and the success exercises expanded upon.

It is recommended that clients do 3 sessions (minimum) approximately one week apart.

Clients can expect calmer, confident, less reactive companions and a much deeper relationship with that pet.   Most pets show immediate change with steady improvement over time with continued TTouch.   That said, every pet is unique and some individuals take longer to blossom than others.

You, the owner, will gain new perspective & a deeper understanding of your animal companion and the skills for helping your pet improve....naturally.
