The Story
Many years ago I purchased a large, super fluffy dog bed with a heavy duty canvas cover from a tony online store for my large hound. Within a few short years the cover was worn thin and beginning to fray and tear, the fiberfill had been mashed flat, separated and become lumpy and uncomfortable. I was deeply disappointed in how poorly the bed preformed and at such a hefty price! It occurred to me eventually that I have fleece beds and pillows that I made 20+ years ago that still look great and show little to no wear. So when I found myself with fleece that I couldn't use in other projects, I decided to make a dog bed after several clients asked if I had any dog beds.
What a hit these beds are! Every animal has been drawn to them like a magnet. One dog refused to use his crate till his Momma purchased a Super Cozy bed, afterwards he was found sleeping soundly in his crate snuggled up in his new bed.
Pets absolutely love these things! Every dog model photographed with the beds volunteered and really insisted on laying on these beds! No asking, placing, or treat incentives were used ~ they just love these beds!
Ideal alone or as a topper for an existing bed and are great for crates.
The Beds/Blankets
The Basic
This is two layers of fleece with a hand finished edge creating a thick blanket.
Quilt
One to two layers of batting tie-quilted between the coordinating fleece top and back and finished edge.
Cozy
Four or more layers of batting/fleece tie-quilted between coordinating fleece top and back with finished edge.
Super Cozy
Four or more layers of batting throughout the bed, plus two or more additional layers in the center of the bed for additional support. Tie quilted between top and back fleece with finished edge.
Rag Doll
Fleece and batting trimmings cut small and distributed between two layers of cotton batting and the top and back fleece. Tie-quilting acts as baffles to reduce clumping and excess shifting of the stuffing while allowing it to fluff. Cover fleece has hand finished edge.
Super Cozy/Rag Doll
(Semi-Rag Doll)
The bed begins with its center panels of two or more layers of fleece/batting, around the center padded portion is fleece trimmings for a fluffy border. The entire bed has one or more layers of batting and it tie-quilted to hold everything in place, reducing bunching and shifting. Cover fleece has a hand finished edge.
The tie edge on either Rag Doll bed emphasizes the the fluffy border and adds to the fullness.
