About Katie

Katie's passion for animals sprang early on, having had animals in her life since the age of four.  In her teenaged years she became an avid equestrian, competing in hunter/jumper events.   In her 20's Katie was showing and training stadium jumpers and beginner dressage.  Later in her 20's and newly married she switched to dog obedience and went on to compete in agility and obedience trials as well as teach classes and assist at clinics.  During that same time she also became a pet therapy volunteer for the local HABIT organization out of the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, of which she is still active as a monitor of other volunteers and their pets in their assigned setting.

Katie first heard about TTouch during her horse and dog showing days but never gave it much thought till an accident left her hands badly hurt late in 2007.  At the time she had a very large 145 pound coonhound who was her therapy dog.  Even though the dog was very well mannered, she had to learn a way to ensure that he would never, ever pull on the lead - endangering her hands.   In 2009 Katie attended a one-day TTouch workshop in Washington DC that was taught by the founder, Linda Tellington-Jones.  She was hooked.  It had to be.   Katie completed the two-year certification course in 18 months, graduating in June 2012.  Two weeks later she was in a motorcycle accident.  It would be over a year before she was strong and steady enough to handle the challenge of working.

Katie has called Lenoir City her home since 2015, though it's coming home ~ living just a few miles from where her parents used to be.   Before coming home to Loudon County, she lived 25 years in neighboring Blount county.   Katie came to Tennessee in 1976 from coastal California....the hippy has never left her, she just has a tiny southern drawl added to it.

One elderly rescue Dachshund from SBRET (Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee) named Nestle,  and one tabby cat rescue share her home.

And then there are the chickens.  Katie does love her chickens.

Come visit!
